Hi, my name is Samantha Curd. I am an aspiring concept artist and a Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) graduate.

Born and raised in the East Bay, I’ve had a lifelong obsession with art and creating. No other interest has overtaken my love for art, but my cat, Shimmer, has come close. A close friend and I started our school’s first lacrosse team. I don’t believe I could have done it without my ambition to get done whatever I put my mind to and the support of my friends and eventual teammates. Soon after, I attended Otis’s Summer of Art, where I found a similar approach also applies to art school. Knowing when to stand your ground, and when to be a team player greatly impacted my life and my art.

At LCAD, I found my love for concept art. I was always drawn to character design, but now I’ve also discovered a passion for environment and prop design. I find it hard to limit my ideas to one aspect of a project. I can work on a character and simultaneously imagine their home and how they would decorate it.

I’ve loved all these moments in my art journey, and I’m excited for all the future moments I will have as I pursue this path of becoming a professional concept artist.
